David criticises government plans to monitor the communications of everyone
David appeared on BBC and ITV News, and BBC Radio’s Today programme to discuss plans to enable the government to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of every person in the UK.
Under the plans, internet companies will be obliged to give the intelligence agency, GCHQ, access to communications in real time.
David strongly criticised the plans, which he said were a serious infringement of the civil liberties of British citizens and would make our existing privacy issues “60 million times worse”. He stated his view that such snooping is planned to be introduced simply because it can be- “the attitude of securicrats across the ages.”
