Sir David Davis on his concern in rises to water and sewage bills
As reported in The Hull Daily Mail;
“Haltemprice and Howden MP David Davis has expressed concern over increases to water and sewerage bills.
The average water bill in the region is set to increase by an additional £12 per year from April 1. Yorkshire Water says the customer charges will help to fund a £329m programme of investment.
Mr Davis said: “News of the increase in water bills is a concern. Households are already stretched by the increased cost if living; however, the average water bill in Yorkshire is below the national average for water and sewerage companies. I welcome the news that Yorkshire Water has announced this increase will help fund improvement plans for 2013-14, which will reduce the risk of flooding from our sewers.”
The company runs a number of schemes aimed at supporting customers, including the Yorkshire Water Community Trust, a charity that provides financial assistance to customers who are in debt.”
