Sir David Davis urges holidaymakers not to travel uninsured
As reported in the Hull Daily Mail;
“Sir David Davis is urging holidaymakers not to travel uninsured.
The Haltemprice and Howden MP is warning constituents about the dangers of travelling uninsured and to “pack your policy” in support of a campaign by ABTA, The Travel Association and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Mr Davis said: “It can be taken for granted that other countries have an equivalent to our NHS, whereas, in reality, many countries do not have national schemes to cover the cost of healthcare. Therefore, treatment abroad can be very costly. It is just not worth taking the risk.
“Even when travelling in Europe, many people wrongly believe that the European Health Insurance Card can be used as an alternative to insurance. This is not the case, travel insurance is still required.””
