Sir David Davis welcomes good news for apprentices in Haltemprice and Howden
Sir David Davis has welcomed the news that the number of apprenticeship programme starts in Haltemprice and Howden. Of this news Sir David Davis said:
“I am delighted that the number of apprenticeships in Haltemprice and Howden continue to rise. There was a massive increase in 2009/10 from 450 to 720 in 2010/11 and this success continued in 2011/12 with 750 apprenticeships starting. Apprenticeships are a great option for young people to earn whilst they are learning a skill. The increase in apprenticeships means there are now more opportunities for young people in a growing number of sectors. Apprenticeships can also offer huge benefits employers by offering a route to harness fresh talent
The year to date figures for 2012/13 (Aug-Jan) are currently estimated at 370 showing that this increase in apprenticeships is permanent and continuing to rise. I would encourage all local businesses to take advantage of talent of our young people, and apprenticeships are an excellent way of doing this.”
