David Davis says HMRC miscalculation is “a clear demonstration of why we should not allow the state to appropriate money from people’s bank accounts”
In light of the announcement today that 5.5 million people have had their tax miscalculated by HMRC, Sir David Davis said:
“If ever there was a clear demonstration of why we should not allow the state to appropriate money from people’s bank accounts this is it.
These are after all only the errors we know about and which have been admitted to.
We can be sure that the Revenue would resist any admission of error if they had already appropriated the money through their proposed “direct recovery” scheme.”
