David Davis welcomes announcement that Tour de Yorkshire will pass through the constituency
Sir David Davis is delighted with the news that the second stage of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire three-day stage cycle race will pass through Bubwith, Foggathorpe and Holme-on-Spalding-Moor.
Mr Davis said:
“This is very good news for the villages of Bubwith, Foggathorpe and Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. The Tour de Yorkshire is an incredible opportunity which will focus both national and international attention on the Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The wider region of Yorkshire has a real passion for cycling which I hope will be on show on 2 May.
Last year’s Tour de France Grand Départ was watched by over three million people and the three-day Tour de Yorkshire race will continue that successful legacy. Last year’s race had an economic impact of well over £100 million, I hope that this is replicated in May and that the benefits are felt by the residents and business in these three villages.
I hope that the Tour de Yorkshire becomes the highlight of the British cycling calendar and the legacy of this race is felt throughout the coming years.”
