David Davis welcomes Government regulation protecting the interests of UK ports
Sir David Davis has welcomed the proposed EU ports regulation announced by the Government.
Mr Davis said:
“Whilst I welcome the Government’s draft Regulation protecting the interests of UK ports, the EU proposals remain an unnecessary and burdensome requirement on British industry.
The negotiations undertaken by the Government are a step in the right direction and I am reassured that further discussion is anticipated.
Ports are a vital component to the country and a key industry in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is vital that we protect this important supply chain and that the further discussion is pursued with the European Parliament. Whilst other countries are seeking more regulation, the UK must continue to fight for limited regulation and protection of our interests in this competitive and important sector.”
