Hull Daily Mail report David’s call for a cut in wind farm subsidies
Haltemprice and Howden MP David Davis has called for a sharp cut in subsidies for future and existing wind farms.
He said such a move would end the current financial incentive for wind farm developers to target the East Riding.
He said: “It will also make a little more equal the planning and legal battle between the vast and wealthy wind farm companies and the small villages and parishes whose quality of life is blighted by these modern monstrosities.
“Any improvement in local communities to be able to challenge these big companies must be viewed as a positive step forward.”
The MP said there was a “serious doubt” about the effectiveness of land-based wind farms as a reliable source of renewable energy.
East Riding Council leader Councillor Steve Parnaby recently claimed there was little chance of ministers imposing new limits on how close new turbine should be built from residential properties.
